Best canned wine for when you fancy just the one drink

Once upon a time, canned wine was definitely not a thing. But when the pandemic prompted us all to pitch up in the local park for al fresco fun, canned drinks became even more popular. No plastic cups? No bottle opener? No glass allowed? No problem.

We don’t doubt that some wine connoisseurs would say canned wine compromises on quality, but now there's a lot of high-quality canned wine on the market, and the convenient cans are a lot more environmentally friendly.

And while we also appreciate that canned wine isn’t necessarily intended to be whipped out at the extravagant dinner party you’ve been planning for the past six months, when it comes to picnics, BBQs, and for when you only fancy just the one drink, they’re ideal. With that in mind, here’s our round-up of the best canned wines around, from sparkling whites to refreshing rosé.

When it comes to canned wine, the Banks Brothers - Tommy and James who run Michelin-starred restaurants The Black Swan and Roots in Yorkshire - have come a very long way in a very short amount of time with their superb premium offering. After launching just two canned wines in summer 2021, they recently released four new French wines, including a light, crisp rosé. For £37, you can try their full range of limited-edition French wines. We're sold.
